FAQs

We know that people are busy, so we have developed a process that is simple, efficient, and streamlined. The first step is an initial meeting (either in person or via phone), which generally lasts 20-30 minutes, where we address any specific needs for the video, and also identify the best way to get the footage and/or photos (either pick up or via mail). If a meeting is not possible, we have a brief form clients can send to us via fax or email. Once we have the video footage, there is very little for the client to do; we keep in touch by email to ensure that the project is on track. Most Time Capsule Film projects can be completed in a few weeks with minimal time required from the client.

With Time Capsule Films, you’re hiring industry professionals who know how to creatively tell a story – it’s what we do best! So if you are intimidated by the process, let us do the hard work for you. If, on the other hand, you have a lot of specific ideas, that’s fine too. We like to give our clients as much room for involvement as they chose.

No problem! That’s why we’re here. All you have to do is hand over your video footage to us. We watch it all very carefully and pull out only the best moments to craft your customized video. We get to know your family so we can be on the lookout for footage that will include special moments and interactions with all the members of your crew.

We work with almost all formats of video, both analog and digital. If you have footage shot in a specific older format that we can’t use (16 millimeter, for example), we can refer you to a place to get it transferred or we can have it transferred for you.

When we have finished your customized Time Capsule Film, you will receive a DVD that comes in a beautifully packaged, personalized case. You will also receive four copies of the DVD, which you can distribute to friends or relatives. We can also make VHS tapes if you prefer. The length of the end product depends on the amount of footage you give us, the purpose for the project, and the kind of material that is on the tape. Typically, with six hours of source video, we produce a DVD that is about 10-20 minutes long. For Special Occasion Films designed as toasts or tributes, the end product usually lasts 10-15 minutes, which we have found is the ideal amount of time to keep an audience both entertained and interested.

Because each project is completely customized, we do not have set prices for our videos. However, our Time Capsule Film creations have ranged from $750-$7500 depending on the type, and amount of footage, whether additional filming is needed, and the nature and complexity of the project. Please contact us to get a specific price quote for your video project.

No problem, we’ve done projects for people all over, from Los Angeles to Chicago to New York. We are used working with clients located remotely, and can complete all transactions via email and regular mail. When clients send us their video (vs. picking it up in person), we return the masters as soon as possible so there is no danger of losing any original footage.

We keep digital masters of your video for up to three years and can create copies for a small fee.

Yes! We can scan your photos so that they can be incorporated into your video.

This is a common question, so we have lots of options. Just using your photos, we can create a wonderful video slideshow set to music, which can become a great gift or keepsake. If you are interested in including video along with your photos, we can schedule a time to videotape you and your family, or even go on a family outing where we can get the whole crew in action.
